New Infographic Shares North American Business Travel Trends

Business travel continues to change, evolve, and grow, with U.S. spending expected to hit $310.2 billion in 2015 and new technologies changing every facet from booking to payment. But who is the modern North American business traveler? What are his or her needs, wants, traits, and preferences?

The latest infographic from WEX Travel looks to paint a picture of today’s traveler, including the following:

  • Business Travel Expenditures: Business travel is expected to finish 2015 at $310.2 billion, up 6.2% from 2014.
  • Productivity Meets Big Ideas: Nearly half of travelers work while at the airport, and one in four have their best ideas while traveling.
  • Technology Reigns Supreme: Surpassed only in frequency by consumer electronics, nearly 70% regularly make travel purchases online.
  • Hail to the OTA: 76% of business and leisure travelers consider OTAs as their ‘go-to’ for booking hotels.
  • The Mobile Millennial: 64% of Millennial business travelers are interested in using mobile devices to separate business from personal expenses.
