For the first time in months we’ve seen the price of crude increase indicating a shift in balance in supply and demand for petrol. With the spike in spot prices this week it’s almost been an unwanted by-product of the need for diesel production. Might be a while for Brisbane, Melbourne Perth and Sydney to fill up, however if you live in Adelaide now is the perfect time to fill up!

Brisbane

Current ULP average: 210.9cpl

Price range over the last week: 168.7cpl – 218.9cpl

Expect to see a discount in the cycle kick over the next week, however for now the peak in price cycles has well and truly hit Brisbane.

Sydney

Current ULP average: 206.9cpl

Price range over the last week: 161.8cpl – 216.9cpl

The average across Sydney is not as high as we can see in Brisbane and Melbourne with some suburbs still hovering at the lower prices.

Melbourne

Current ULP average: 209.8cpl

Price range over the last week: 165.9cpl – 220.0cpl

Similar position as Brisbane, Melbourne is sitting at the peak of this price cycle. We are likely to see steady discounting over the coming weeks.

Adelaide

Current ULP average: 172.1cpl

Price range over the last week: 161.5cpl – 219.7cpl

Expect to see a new price cycle hit Adelaide over the next week with many retailers expected to increase ULP prices to 214.9cpl.

Perth

Current ULP average: 180.9cpl

Price range over the last week: 165.7cpl – 214.7cpl

If you’re in Perth, expect to see a price fall next Tuesday, with Perth in its mid-cycle we won’t see much change.

Darwin (no price cycle)

Current ULP average: 189.3cpl

Price range over the last week: 181.5cpl – 192.9cpl

Little movement for Darwin again this week.

Hobart (no price cycle)

Current ULP average: 193.4cpl

Price range over the last week: 181.7cpl – 204.0cpl

Slight increase for Hobart over the past week.

Retail diesel prices

Current Diesel averages:

ACT – 236.2cpl

Adelaide – 228.8cpl

Brisbane – 237.4cpl,

Darwin – 239.2cpl

Hobart – 243.6cpl

Melbourne – 236.2cpl

Perth – 231.8cpl

Sydney – 236.7cpl

Minimum movement in retail diesel prices over the week, with on Adelaide, Perth and Sydney dropping sightly. Adelaide still holding its title as the cheapest capital this week.

Wholesale trends

Wholesale petrol prices increased this week with average TGP prices going up by 0.2cpl.

Wholesale diesel prices decreased this week with average TGP prices going down by 1.2cpl.
