Brisbane is the city to watch this week – with the potential for the new price cycle to either spread rapidly, or do not spread at all! Some might say it’s a brave move to put prices up by 40cpl ahead of the Easter holidays as it certainly earns the scrutiny of the media and the motoring public.

Brisbane
Current ULP average: 178.3cpl
Price range over the last week: 166.9cpl – 212.9cpl
Brisbane is seeing the first signs of the new price cycle ahead of the Easter break. Around a dozen locations raised their unleaded 91 price to 209.9cpl at the end of last week.
Sydney
Current ULP average: 197.4cpl
Price range over the last week: 158.9cpl – 213.9cpl
Sydney has been through the peak average price now with most locations increasing their prices as part of the latest price cycle. We can expect a slow decline in average prices now in the discounting phase of the cycle.
Melbourne
Current ULP average: 185.3cpl
Price range over the last week: 161.9cpl – 207.3cpl
Melbourne prices are still on the way up in the latest price cycle. Approx. 35% of retail locations have put their prices up. The new peak price is 203.9cpl for unleaded 91.
Adelaide
Current ULP average: 188.7cpl
Price range over the last week: 163.9cpl – 202.5cpl
Adelaide has passed its latest peak price of 197.9cpl for unleaded 91 and is now in a discounting phase. Lowest prices will again be in approx. 1 week.
Perth
Current ULP average: 173.7cpl
Price range over the last week: 160.7cpl – 203.9cpl
Expect a slightly higher peak price this Wednesday, potentially 209.9cpl for unleaded 91.
Darwin (no price cycle)
Current ULP average: 179.0cpl
Price range over the last week: 173.5cpl – 181.9cpl
Very little change in Darwin over the past week.
Hobart (no price cycle)
Current ULP average: 188.6cpl
Price range over the last week: 178.9cpl – 194.1cpl
Much like Darwin, there has been very little change for Hobart in the past week.
Retail diesel prices
Current Diesel averages:
ACT – 203.4cpl
Adelaide – 188.5cpl
Brisbane – 196.7cpl
Darwin – 209.4cpl
Hobart – 207.6cpl
Melbourne – 196.6cpl
Perth – 187.5cpl
Sydney – 197.8cpl
Retail diesel prices fell 1-2cpl across most capitals over the past week. We can expect to see these flatten out or even start to go up again based on wholesale trends.
Wholesale trends
Wholesale petrol prices increased this week with average TGP prices going up by 5.5cpl.
Wholesale diesel prices increased this week with average TGP prices going up by 2.2cpl.
