The next few weeks will be interesting as retailers are suspected to reinstate the fuel excise which is due to happen on 29 September. As most capitals are at the bottom of their cycles we can look to expect a higher phase of the price cycle. This will likely give retailers flexibility on how to handle the timing of the excise when applied.
Brisbane
Current ULP average: 158.0cpl
Price range over the last week: 147.9cpl – 197.9cpl
We’re expecting Brisbane to see the new price cycle any day, although they are still sitting at the bottom of the cycle for now.
Sydney
Current ULP average: 155.4cpl
Price range over the last week: 142.5cpl – 205.9cpl
Sydney’s average price dropped significantly similar to Brisbane making this placed at the bottom of the price cycle. Expect to see a next price spike shortly with Melbourne and Brisbane to also follow.
Melbourne
Current ULP average: 157.0cpl
Price range over the last week: 143.9cpl – 198.8cpl
Similar to Sydney and Brisbane, looks like the average prices are falling rapidly over the last week – good news for motorists as this is the time to fill out – but we expect a new price cycle any day now.
Adelaide
Current ULP average: 150.9cpl
Price range over the last week: 141.5cpl – 190.7cpl
Adelaide’s prices continued to drop the past week – however there are signs that the new price cycle has arrived. With multiple locations now posting ULP prices of 189.9cpl.
Perth
Current ULP average: 163.0cpl
Price range over the last week: 145.7cpl – 199.9cpl
With Perth now returning to a fortnightly cycle – the lowest point of the cycle will be next Tuesday 20 September.
Darwin (no price cycle)
Current ULP average: 178.8cpl
Price range over the last week: 173.5cpl – 184.9cpl
Darwin prices fell by approx. 4cpl over the course of the last week.
Hobart (no price cycle)
Current ULP average: 174.4cpl
Price range over the last week: 160.9cpl – 197.9cpl
A very small drop for Hobart last week.

Wholesale petrol prices decreased this week, with average TGP prices going dropping by 1.4cpl.
