Diesel was in higher demand globally again this week, causing wholesale prices to push up while petrol wholesale prices eased very slightly. Overall however, there has been relative stability in wholesale prices and global spot prices for both petrol and diesel in the past months. During periods like this, we tend to see prices in regional areas remain stable, whereas capital cities remain volatile due to petrol price cycles.
Brisbane
Current ULP average: 176.6cpl
Price range over the last week: 162.7cpl – 210.9cpl
Quite a substantial fall in average prices for Brisbane over the past week. Given recent trends, 9cpl is a large drop in 7 days.
Sydney
Current ULP average: 175.1cpl
Price range over the last week: 160.7cpl – 207.9cpl
Sydney was similar to Brisbane, with average prices falling substantially last week.
Melbourne
Current ULP average: 177.5cpl
Price range over the last week: 165.9cpl – 206.9cpl
Melbourne followed a similar trend to both Brisbane and Sydney, but remains the highest of the east coast capitals for now.
Adelaide
Current ULP average: 185.8cpl
Price range over the last week: 167.4cpl – 197.1cpl
Adelaide is over the peak price now and on the way back down to the bottom of the price cycle. We expect to see signs of the new price cycle within the coming week.
Perth
Current ULP average: 168.2cpl
Price range over the last week: 158.7cpl – 205.9cpl
Perth average prices fell very slightly compared to last week. We can expect to see Wednesday’s peak prices somewhere around 205.9cpl again.
Darwin
Current ULP average: 176.8cpl
Price range over the last week: 172.5cpl – 181.9cpl
Darwin prices dropped slightly in the past week.
Hobart
Current ULP average: 182.1cpl
Price range over the last week: 168.9cpl – 189.0cpl
Hobart prices rose slightly in the past week.
