Wholesale prices for both petrol and diesel slowed over the past week thanks to the improvement in the AUD/USD exchange rate, however, retailers are succumbing to pressure and have continued to raise fuel prices. Fuel prices peaked earlier than forecasted for Melbourne, which may lead Brisbane and Sydney to follow suit where motorists can expect to see the price of unleaded petrol reach the 209.9cpl mark!
Brisbane
Current ULP average: 179.1cpl
Price range over the last week: 161.9cpl – 205.9cpl
Fortunately for Brisbane motorists, the average price of unleaded petrol has dropped by around 7cpl during the past week. This is most likely going to be short-lived due to more increases to wholesale prices.
Sydney
Current ULP average: 183.1cpl
Price range over the last week: 165.9cpl – 201.9cpl
Sydney is predicted to be around 2 weeks away from the beginning of another petrol price cycle, with most retailers decreasing prices by only 5cpl this week. A range of eastern suburbs retailers have kept their pump prices at the 199.9cpl mark.
Melbourne
Current ULP average: 177.2cpl
Price range over the last week: 155.9cpl – 206.8cpl
A new fuel price cycle has started this week, with pump prices seen at 205.9cpl at a few retailers across the city. retailers. Many retailers have however opted to set petrol prices at the 199.9cpl mark.
Adelaide
Current ULP average: 193.5cpl
Price range over the last week: 158.9cpl – 204.1cpl
If you can, hold off on filling up for another week if you’re an Adelaide motorist, when retailers are set to drop their fuel prices.
Perth
Current ULP average: 186.2cpl
Price range over the last week: 162.7cpl – 207.9cpl
Last week’s petrol price cycle peak set a new record for fuel prices in Perth, where motorists were surprised with a massive 207.9cpl price tag for unleaded. The next low point is expected around next Tuesday.
Darwin
Current ULP average: 188.5cpl
Price range over the last week: 131.9cpl – 189.9cpl
Just a moderate change in average fuel prices for Darwin this week.
Hobart
Current ULP average: 193.7cpl
Price range over the last week: 156.9cpl – 202.0cpl
For yet another week, Hobart has taken first prize for the highest average unleaded price out of all the capitals.

Wholesale petrol prices increased this week with average TGP prices going up by 0.9cpl.
Wholesale diesel prices also increased this week with average TGP prices slightly rising by 0.3cpl.
