Travelers using UATP cards will soon see expanded card acceptance for hotel and car purchases. Recently announced by the Universal Air Travel Plan (UATP), the UATP and WEX have announced a strategic relationship, with WEX providing Virtual Credit Cards (VCC) to the entire UATP Network.
Beginning with Delta Air Lines, this agreement with WEX will allow UATP corporate account holders to pay for hotel and rental cars through the VCC solution.
Corporate travelers will be given a single-use virtual credit card number that can be used in any of the 11 currencies (Australian dollar, Swiss franc, South African rand, New Zealand dollar, Norwegian krone, Danish krone, Swedish krona, Polish zloty, US Dollar, British Pound, Euro) that WEX settles in. Corporate travelers will receive one consolidated travel statement for all of their air, hotel and rental car bookings
“Collaborating with UATP was a logical move to grow our virtual global travel payment platform,” said WEX SVP, general manager of virtual payments, James Pratt. “VCCs are an increasingly popular form of payment for travelers and we expect the solution to be picked up quickly and grow rapidly with UATP.”
Other airlines in the UATP network of issuers include AeroMexico, Air New Zealand, Air Niugini, American Airlines, Austrian, China Eastern, EL AL (Israel), Etihad Airways, GOL, Hahn Air, Heli Air Mexico, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Shandong Airlines, United, US Airways, and AirPlus International, which provides services to British Airways and Lufthansa.
